Cicoil Develops High Performance Cat 5e Cable for Severe Environments

Cicoil announces the introduction of Cat 5e cable featuring a highly flexible flat profile and an exclusive, extruded Flexx-Sil™ encapsulation. While meeting or exceeding all electrical and signal requirements for the Cat 5e standard, Cicoil's version excels with physical and environmental attributes. Temperature rating is a broad -65°C to +260°C range and is flame resistant. They are submersible, with excellent resistance to steam, salt water and de-ionized water; and are further resistant to chemicals, acid, oils, alcohol, and ozone.

Cicoil's Cat 5e cables were created to meet the increased demand of professionals who need a rugged, reliable, portable and flexible network cable solution. They excel in the field where environmental contaminants can damage or degrade common cables.

In repeated flexing applications, Cicoil Cat 5e cable features a repeated bend radius of just 0.9 inch, and a cycle life exceeding 10,000,000 repetitive flexing. It also features a Durometer Rating of Shore A, 65. In addition, they are approved by NASA for space flight, and exceed outgassing specifications for vacuum and space use. They are rated for radiation exposure to 10-7 Roentgens.

Cicoil has been a leader in designing and manufacturing high performance cable assemblies for over fifty years. The company's unique Flexx-Sil™ coated flat cables provide high flexibility, extremely long life, and they can withstand temperature extremes from -65 degrees to +260 degrees Celsius. Cicoil's cables are used in thousands of demanding applications; including aircraft fuel control cells, semiconductor automation, and the Space Shuttle. Cicoil designs and manufactures its Flexx-Sil™ cable and cable assemblies in an automated facility in Valencia, California. Cicoil's quality assurance system is certified to the ISO 9001 (AS9100) standard. Visit www.cicoil.com for more information, or call 661-295-1295 to speak to an application engineer.
